I was born in Montreal in 1959. In 79, after graduating at Cégep du Vieux-Montréal in Esthétique de présentation (stage set design and showcase design), I start my career in interior design that I will pursue for 20 years. During that time, I travel around the world and begin fine art studies at Université du Québec in Montréal (UQÀM).
After trying different sculptural materials, paper became my medium of choice.
I focus my practice on my passion: the survival and protection of the plant and animal world. My sculptures are either a tribute to underline the precariousness or resilience of a specie or its complex relationship with humans. My intent is to catalyze a sense of urgency and concern for the loss of natural habitats. I hope that their presence in people’s home will bring awareness to their plight.
Every sculpture is composed of recycled paper, “papier maché” glue, metal wire of varied gauge, acrylic paint, dry pastel, charcoal and an acrylic varnish finish. Paper sculptures can also be used as molds for the bronzes.
